Kate Mailer is an American actress and writer, born in 1962 to a family of notable literary and journalistic figures. Her father, Norman Mailer, was a renowned author and playwright, and her mother, Lady Jeanne Campbell, was a journalist and member of the British nobility, being the daughter of the 11th Duke of Argyll. This unique upbringing likely influenced Mailer's early interests in the arts.

Mailer's acting career spanned both stage and film, with notable roles in productions such as Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard and Jean-Luc Godard's adaptation of William Shakespeare's King Lear, alongside Burgess Meredith, in 1987.
