Shlock Rock
American-Israeli Jewish rock band
Shlock Rock is a distinctive American-Israeli Jewish rock band that was formed in 1986, with its inception dating back to December 1985. Led by vocalist Lenny Solomon, the band has carved out a unique niche for itself by creating parodies of popular secular songs, replacing the original lyrics with Jewish religious-themed content. This innovative approach has enabled Shlock Rock to produce a diverse range of music, blending pop-rock parodies with original rock compositions in both English and Hebrew.
With an impressive discography of 39 albums to their name, Shlock Rock has established itself as a prominent force in the contemporary Jewish rock scene. As of 2015, the band continues to actively record and perform live, having sold over 200,000 CDs, tapes, and DVDs worldwide. Through their music and performances, Shlock Rock aims to promote Jewish pride, identity, and awareness, contributing to Jewish continuity. The band's extensive touring schedule has taken them to concerts, schools, and Jewish events around the globe, with the notable distinction of being the only Jewish music band to have performed in all 50 states.
