Yevgeny Primakov

Yevgeny Primakov was a prominent Russian politician and diplomat who held various key positions throughout his career. Born in 1929, he went on to serve in several high-ranking roles, including as Prime Minister of Russia from 1998 to 1999. Prior to this, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he held from 1996 to 1998. His experience in foreign affairs was further complemented by his tenure as the Director of Foreign Intelligence from 1991 to 1996.

In addition to his roles in government, Primakov was also an accomplished academic. As an Arabist, he was recognized for his expertise and was elected as an academician and member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Earlier in his career, he served as the Speaker of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union from 1990 to 1991.
