Claude Sarraute

Claude Sarraute was a French writer and journalist, born in 1927. She was the daughter of novelist Nathalie Sarraute and lawyer Raymond Sarraute. Her career spanned multiple fields, including literature and journalism, with a notable position as a columnist for the prominent French newspaper Le Monde. Sarraute also made appearances on the radio show Les Grosses Têtes, participating as a panelist from 1984 to 1995 and again from 2014 until her passing in 2023.
Sarraute's personal life included several marriages and a diverse family background. Her first marriage was to American journalist Stanley Karnow from 1948 to 1955. She then married doctor Christophe Tzara, son of Dada poet Tristan Tzara, in 1957, with whom she had two sons before divorcing in 1966. In 1967, she married philosopher and writer Jean-François Revel, a member of the Académie Française, with whom she had two children, including Nicolas Revel, who later became the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Jean Castex. Through her marriages and family connections, Sarraute was part of a rich cultural and intellectual heritage.
