Eliot A. Cohen is a prominent American political scientist with a specialization in history. His career has spanned various roles in academia and government, including a position as counselor in the United States Department of State under Secretary Condoleezza Rice from 2007 to 2009. Prior to his current appointment, Cohen directed the Strategic Studies Program at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.
