Eva Heyman

victime juive hongroise de la Shoah

Eva Heyman was a Jewish-Hungarian girl from Oradea, whose life was tragically cut short during the Holocaust. In 1944, at a time of great turmoil, she began keeping a diary that would later serve as a poignant testament to the hardships faced by her community. The diary chronicles the rapid deterioration of living conditions for Jews in Oradea, as well as the emotional toll of persecution.

Heyman's diary offers a unique and intimate perspective on the effects of anti-Jewish laws and the loss of rights and freedoms experienced by Hungarian Jews during this period. Through her writing, she conveys the desperation and hopelessness that characterized life under German occupation. Sadly, Heyman's own story was marked by a tragic end: at just 13 years old, she and her grandparents were victims of the Holocaust, a devastating event that would claim countless lives and leave an indelible mark on history.
