Guenter Lewy
historien et politologue américain
Guenter Lewy was a German-born American historian and author, born in 1923. He pursued a career in academia, becoming a professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Lewy's scholarly interests were diverse, and he wrote extensively on various historical topics. One of his most notable works is the 1978 book "America in Vietnam", which examined the United States' involvement in the Vietnam War.
Lewy's writings also explored the concept of genocide in different historical contexts. However, some of his works sparked controversy due to his denial of the Romani and Armenian genocides. His opinions on these matters have been subject to debate and discussion among scholars and historians. Throughout his career, Lewy maintained his position as a professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst until his passing in 2026, leaving behind a body of work that continues to be studied and evaluated by scholars today.
