Helen Reddy

chanteuse et actrice américaine

Helen Reddy was a multifaceted Australian-American entertainer, born into a show business family in Melbourne in 1941. Her career in the entertainment industry began at a remarkably young age, with Reddy performing on radio and television from the age of four. As she grew older, her talents earned her recognition, including a win on the television program Bandstand in 1966. This victory granted her a ticket to New York City and an opportunity to audition for a record deal, although this initial attempt was unsuccessful.

Reddy's perseverance led her to relocate to Chicago and eventually Los Angeles, where her music career gained momentum. She released her debut singles, "One Way Ticket" in 1968 and "I Believe in Music" in 1970, with the latter's B-side, "I Don't Know How to Love Him," achieving notable success by reaching number eight on the Canadian magazine RPM's pop chart. Her burgeoning career caught the attention of Capitol Records, leading to a record deal in 1971, a pivotal moment in her journey as a singer, actress, and television host.
