Jay Landsman

Jay Landsman is an American actor who has also had a career in law enforcement. Prior to his acting work, he served as a homicide detective, gaining recognition for his work in the Baltimore homicide unit. His experiences in this role were documented in David Simon's 1991 book, Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, which provided a detailed account of his time on the force.

Landsman's law enforcement background is also notable for his family's history of service in the Baltimore Police Department. He was the last of his family line to serve in the department, following in the footsteps of his brother Jerry, who was a detective, and his father, who held the distinction of being the department's first Jewish district commander. Landsman has since transitioned to a career in film, leveraging his unique experiences to inform his acting work.
