Michael Laucke

guitariste canadien, classique et flamenco

Michael Laucke was a Canadian guitarist and composer who made significant contributions to the world of classical and flamenco music. Born in 1947, Laucke's early life took a unique turn when he began giving professional snooker demonstrations at the age of 13. The winnings from these events enabled him to travel from his hometown of Montreal to New York City, where he pursued his true passion - classical guitar - under the guidance of renowned instructor Rolando Valdés-Blain.

Laucke's music career, which spanned over three decades, was marked by numerous notable performances and recordings. He began performing in 1965 and went on to release 16 albums, starting with his debut recording in 1969. His talents took him to 25 countries, where he entertained audiences with his mastery of classical, new flamenco, and flamenco guitar. Laucke's concert portfolio includes prestigious venues such as the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., where he first performed in 1971, and New York City, where he made his debut in 1972 and met Senator Claiborne Pell. Laucke passed away in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful music and memorable performances.
