Frumka Płotnicka
résistante et activiste juive polonaise pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale
Frumka Płotnicka was a prominent figure in the Jewish resistance movement during World War II. Born in 1914, she became an activist with the Jewish Fighting Organization and a member of the Labour Zionist organization Dror. Her efforts focused on organizing self-defence initiatives, particularly in the Warsaw Ghetto, where she played a key role in preparing for the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. As a dedicated resistance fighter, Płotnicka worked tirelessly to support her community in the face of extreme adversity.
Following the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto, Płotnicka relocated to southern Poland, where she continued her resistance work. In the Dąbrowa Basin, she established a local chapter of the Jewish Fighting Organization in Będzin, working closely with individuals such as Józef and Bolesław Kożuch, as well as Cwi Brandes. Tragically, her efforts were soon met with brutal force, as she witnessed the devastating liquidation of the Sosnowiec and Będzin Ghettos by German authorities. Płotnicka's life was cut short in 1943, at the age of 29, as she fought for the freedom and survival of her community.
