Zoya Cherkassky-Nnadi
artiste ukraino-israélienne
Zoya Cherkassky-Nnadi is a Ukrainian-born Israeli artist, born in Kyiv in 1976. She relocated to Israel in 1991, an experience that would later influence her artistic work. Her personal history, spanning two distinct cultural backgrounds, has significantly shaped her artistic focus. Cherkassky-Nnadi's artwork often reflects on her childhood in the Soviet Union and her subsequent life as an immigrant in Israel, offering a unique perspective on identity, culture, and belonging.
As an artist, Cherkassky-Nnadi has been part of a collective effort to redefine the Israeli art scene. Notably, she was one of the founding members of the New Barbizon Group, a collective of five painters all originally from the former USSR. This group has provided a platform for artists with similar backgrounds to explore and express their experiences through art. Through her work and her involvement with the New Barbizon Group, Cherkassky-Nnadi contributes to a broader dialogue about identity, migration, and the intersection of personal and cultural narratives.
